Hello my name is Squid and i’m a photographer and radio dj in Portland, Oregon. I work at the radio station KNRK 94.7 fm. This is the main website for all my goods.
I am born and raised in the Portland area. I have worked at the radio station 94/7 FM since I was 21 which has been amazing and somehow it’s been a 1/3 of my life. I have worked there almost as long as we are in school during our lives. Of course that is before college which can take another decade. I never thought I would of been in radio, I’m a shy person but I have always been in a position that has been put me in front of the crowd with a mic. But really i’m only shy like a comic book nerd was always thought to be, afraid of girls. At the radio station I do the “night” shift but really I have the best two hours on the station. At 7pm I do a countdown of all the new music on the station then at 8pm I do the new music hour, which is very non main stream music. It’s the hour that would break a band a month before you would of heard it during the day light hours. It’s amazing because I get to interview a lot of bands and receive a lot of music everyday that is sometimes bad.
I’m also a photographer, I tend to do a lot of city and walk around photo’s. I haven’t really jumped into the portrait type because I don’t like the sense of setting up the shot. I’m sure if I had all the lighting gear that might be a different story but as of right now I would rather spend my time outside taking photo’s. I tend to do a lot of Portland events that people would think are weird like, The Urban Iditarod or Adult Soapbox Derby and even a Santicon. But they are just fun things to take photo’s of, isn’t that why people take photo’s?
